You Just Experienced a Simulated QR Phishing Attack

Don't worry!

This QR code was part of Hager's Cyber Month Awareness Campaign. The objective is to help everyone recognize and prevent QR Phishing attacks (Quishing).

🔍

1. Check the Destination Before Opening It

Most smartphones display the URL before opening the website.

✅ Legitimate

❌ Suspicious

Cybercriminals often use similar-looking domains, misspellings, and words such as secure, login, verification, update or account.
⚠️

2. Be Cautious of Urgent Requests

Attackers rely on emotion and urgency:

  • Your account will be suspended
  • Verify your identity now
  • Immediate action required
When you feel pressured to act immediately, slow down and verify first.
📱

3. A QR Code Is Not Automatically Safe

A malicious QR code can be:

  • Sent by email
  • Shared in messaging apps
  • Printed on posters
  • Placed on top of another QR code
✅ Trust the destination.
❌ Do not trust the QR code itself.
🔐

4. Never Enter Your Password Without Verification

Before entering your credentials:

  • ✔ Check the web address
  • ✔ Verify the website is legitimate
  • ✔ Confirm you were expecting the request
🚩 Red Flag: If a website unexpectedly asks for your Hager credentials, stop and investigate.
🛑

5. When in Doubt, Stop

Cybercriminals exploit

  • Curiosity
  • Trust
  • Urgency
  • Routine

Cyber-aware employees use

  • Verification
  • Critical Thinking
  • Caution
🎯

Quick Reminder

Taking only 10 seconds to verify a QR code destination can prevent a security incident.

Always think before you scan.

Stay Alert • Verify • Protect

Cybersecurity is everyone's responsibility. A few seconds of verification can protect Hager, colleagues, customers and partners.
